Information Technology AAS – Database Programming and Administration Degree

Code: AAS.IT.DB

This degree program emphasizes computer programming skills and database management. Two semesters of a programming language, three semesters of database courses, systems analysis, and applications development courses prepare the student to actively participate in real-world software development projects.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Design, implement and administer databases.
  • Design a normalized database, create its conceptual model, further implement it physical design and manipulate it by using structured query language (SQL), data definition language (DML), transaction control language (TCL) and data control language (DCL).
  • Analyze a business situation and develop a database application that meets customer requirements.
  • Create database applications using a procedural language extension to SQL. It included procedural language constructs, exception handling as well as using, creating and managing packages. Advanced software includes Oracle database and PL SQL.
  • Install, configure, deploy and administer database servers. They will be able to resolve not only basic installation and configuration database issues, but also data management, backup, recovery, and transportation between databases, user administration as well as network configuration. Advance software includes Linux Operating System and Oracle database.
