Human Services AAS – Correctional Studies Degree

This program is intended for students seeking to pursue a career in corrections at both federal and local levels.  It provides fundamental knowledge of the functions and process of the criminal justice system as it relates to correctional studies.  Students will study the philosophy, history, and legal principles guiding correctional practices and procedures.  Career opportunities:  Federal, State, County, and Private Correctional facilities as well as Federal and State Courts/Judiciary as Probation and Parole Officers.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the functions, interrelationships and processes of the criminal justice components.
  • State and support the opinions on critical issues and problems facing the criminal justice system.
  • Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of the philosophy, history and application of law related to the criminal justice system.
  • Describe and analyze the theories of causation and impact of crime.
