HH 337 Medical Billing Certification Course

*Medical Billing portion of the program will be held T/Thu; when the Med Term class end will be running M/T/Th every week till the end of the course.


This 200-hour program introduces the student to health insurance and reimbursement. In this course the student will become familiar with common medical billing practices, the health insurance industry, legal and regulatory issues and differences in reimbursement methodologies. The student will learn principles of medical billing related to proper claim form preparation, submission, and payment processing, and the follow up process.

This course is recommended for anyone who is preparing for a career in a medical billing department at a physician's office, clinic, or other healthcare entity, and as a claims examiner for insurance carriers. Students learn medical billing and insurance standards; lCD 10, CPT and HCPCS coding. HIPAA, medical law and ethics compliance standards will be addressed.

After completion of this course the student will qualify to sit for the AAPC Certified Professional Biller (CPB) certification examination or have the option of taking the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Billing and Coding Specialist Examination (CBCS).
