English as a Second Language (ESL)
The English as a Second Language program consists of Core Classes, and Enrichment Classes that teach intensive English for work and everyday life.
Most Classes meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in 7 week Cycles.
Core Classes
The Core ESL program takes students from Beginner to Advanced proficiency in English. Students’ abilities and learning priorities are targeted at each level. All four language elements (reading, writing, listening, speaking) are practiced in realistic contexts. As students move from level to level new skills and more advanced content are introduced into classes.
Enrichment Classes
The Enrichment classes are geared for students who want to add to their learning. These courses are designed to enhance skills in speaking and writing that are introduced in the Core classes. An Instructor or Academic Advisor will assist in selecting the appropriate course to take in addition to your Core level.

Test days are Wednesday or Thursday. The test starts at 9:00 am or 6:00 pm.

Registration Information:
- New students must register in person at the Hackensack location or via telephone.
- Registration Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:30 am – 7:00 pm Friday 8:30 am 4:30 pm
- Returning students can mail in registration.
- Payments must be made in full at the time of registration by money order, personal check or credit/debit card. Cash is not accepted.
- Changes in registration must be completed within the first 3 days of class with administrative approval.
- Refunds are granted no later than 3 business days before class begins. All refund requests must be made in writing. Refunds are automatically issued if a class is cancelled.
