Culinary Arts

Continuing Education with Bergen Community College is now offering two certifications in the culinary arts for students interested in enhancing their personal or professional skills in cooking and baking. Open to students of all ages and abilities, these courses allow students the opportunity to participate in college division courses with matriculating students and can be applied to a two-year liberal arts degree if desired. 



To be eligible
for the Professional Cooking Certificate students must complete the following 3 core courses and an additional elective. 

Core Courses 
Food Protection and Safety 
Professional Food Preparation 
Introduction to Baking 

Elective Courses (must complete 1) 
International Cuisine 
Garde Manager 



To be eligible for the Achievement in Baking Certificate students must complete the following 4 core courses and an additional elective. 

Core Courses 
Food Protection and Safety
Professional Food Preparation 
Introduction to Baking 
Advanced Baking 

Elective Courses (must complete 1) 
Confectionary Arts 
Artisan Breads 
Specialty Cakes 

Students who take all 3 core courses for the Professional Cooking Certificate plus the additional core courses in the Achievement in Baking Certificate and the 2 required electives, will receive both certifications
