Professional Studies AS – Criminal Justice Option

The Criminal Justice program prepares students to transfer into the junior year of a baccalaureate program in criminal justice or a related area.  The program provides a balanced and comprehensive overview of the nature and structure of the criminal justice system so that students gain an understanding of the criminal justice system.  Students will develop competency in interpersonal and group interactions.   Career opportunities:  Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement agencies, Federal, State Court/Judiciary, Federal, State, County and Private Correctional facilities, Corporate and Private Security firms.

Program Learning Outcomes 

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the functions, interrelationships, and processes of the criminal justice components.
  • State and support the opinions on critical issues and problems facing the criminal justice system.
  • Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of the philosophy, history, and application of law related to the criminal justice system.
  • Describe and analyze the theories of causation and impact of crime.
