Professional Studies AS – Business Administration – Accounting Option
Code: AS.PS.BUS.ACCT
The Associate in Science (AS) Degree, Accounting Option is designed for students seeking a career in the accounting field. This AS provides a solid foundation for transfer to a senior institution for higher-level study. The Degree offers an integration of accounting, business and liberal arts courses needed to enhance critical thinking, analytical, decision-making and communication skills required by contemporary accountants.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Apply GAAP to the recording and reporting of business transactions.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Identify the importance of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and identify the responsibilities and requirements of ethical behavior incumbent upon management and the outside auditors.
- Demonstrate computer competency in business applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
- Use financial information to perform managerial decision making.
- Present ideas in writing in an effective manner for a professional audience.
- Present ideas orally in an effective manner for a professional audience.
